COMILOG to create two CSR funds

The Ogooué mining company (Comilog) and the Gabonese state added, on October 2 in Moanda, a clause to the mining agreement that binds them and gives more weight to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). This addendum establishes the creation of two CSR funds intended to finance new development programs for the benefit of local communities in the region where Comilog’s mining sites are located.

The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy of the Ogooué Mining Company (Comilog) will reach a new dimension. The subsidiary of the Eramet group and the Gabonese State signed, on October 2 in Moanda, an addendum to the mining agreement which binds them and which provides for the creation of two CSR funds intended to finance new development programs for the benefit of local communities. in the region where Comilog mining sites are located.

Signed by the Minister of Mines and the Managing Director (ADG) of Comilog, in the presence of the Prime Minister and the CEO of Eramet, in particular, this agreement provides for a co-construction mechanism between the partners: a development fund for local communities funded by the allocation by the State of part of the taxes paid by Comilog, as provided for in the Mining Code, and a CSR Fund financed and implemented by Comilog which will be entirely intended for structuring projects for the benefit of local communities. local populations.

“This major agreement is further concrete proof of the commitment of Comilog and the Eramet group in Gabon,” said the CEO of Comilog. “It reinforces societal actions towards the populations and thus further increase the economic benefits of our activities in Gabon”, added Leod-Paul Batolo.

In 2019, Comilog’s societal contribution in the Moanda region amounted to 11 billion CFA francs. In 2020, as part of the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, Comilog and Setrag have mobilized strongly to strengthen the health system put in place by the Gabonese government. In total, more than 3 billion CFA francs have been devoted to various actions of solidarity towards the employees and the populations of Gabon.
