The US oil company Vaalco Energy has just announced the shutdown, since mid-April, of the South Tchibala-2H offshore well due to a mechanical failure.
A mechanical problem that occurred in mid-April on the South Tchibala-2H offshore well forced Vaalco Energy to stop all production operations on this oil platform of the Etame Marin permit, off Gabon.
According to the tanker, at the time of the shutdown, the well was producing roughly BOPD gross or 225 BOPD NRI at Vaalco before ceasing production. “It may not be possible to remedy this well failure until the next drilling campaign when a rig is in place.”
Faced with this situation, and to help Gabon meet its OPEC + production quota, the Gabonese authorities have recommended a temporary reduction in Tame production until September 2020.
