Gabon shuts down physical counters to stop Covid 19 spread

As part of the support measures for economic operators, to mitigate the effects of the coronavirus, physical counters have been temporarily closed at the Gabonese Ministry of the Economy. These are specifically physical counters dedicated to rent suspension measures, corporate emergency financing and corporate credit moratoria.

“Their reopening will be the subject of a further communication,” the Economy Ministry said in a statement on April 15. If no official reason has been given to justify this decision, it is believed it is an idea of the ministry to limit the overflow of people arriving at the counters is the reason. The idea of the administration would be to avoid the risks of contamination through and ensure the respect of social distancing rules.

The Ministry of Economy however informs donors and companies that “the virtual counters are available from the economie-finances.gouv.ga website”. On the same platform, those concerned can also download forms, which they can send, with supporting documents, to the addresses minefi@gouv.ga or minefi@gouv.ga. Likewise, a toll-free number, 2550, has been set up to enlighten users.
