“Transfo 2025” plan: The Solution of Gabon to tackle Energy crisis

As Gabonese people continue to suffer from power cuts and irregular water supplies, the ruling military announced the creation of a monitoring committee for a recently launched plan that is supposed to resolve these problems by the end of 2025.

Launched some time ago by the Presidency of the Republic with the aim of “strengthening the national energy sector and stabilizing the supply of electricity and water” , the strategic plan “Transfo 2025” will very soon be implemented. A monitoring committee has just been created on the instructions of the President of the Transition, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. Its main mission: to ensure the monitoring and proper execution of the said plan for the benefit of the Gabonese Energy and Water Company (SEEG).

Composed of representatives of the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions (CTRI), the task force led from the Palace, the Ministries of Energy and Economy, this monitoring committee is in fact “responsible for supervising the rigorous execution of projects, evaluating performance and ensuring compliance with the financial and technical commitments made under this plan” , indicated the spokesperson for the CTRI, Colonel Ulrich Manfoumbi Manfoumbi, who did not fail to recall the ambition and determination of his boss to pursue the reforms essential to the modernization of the energy sector and to guarantee Gabonese reliable and secure access to drinking water and electricity.

The new structure will work on four strategic axes:

1. strengthening energy infrastructure to ensure a stable, sustainable supply adapted to the country’s growing needs;

2. digitalization and securing of systems for optimal, transparent and secure management of resources and services;

3. debt reduction and contract renegotiation to ensure rigorous and sustainable financial management;

4. the rationalization of public services with initiatives such as “ One Gabonese, one meter ”, to improve access to basic services.

Composition of the committee:

  • Army General Jean-Félix Akaga, representative of the CTRI
  • Army Corps General Dieudonné Pongui, representative of the CTRI
  • Pierre Duro, representative of the task force
  • Air Division General Jean-Hilaire Moubamba Maganga, representative of the task force
  • Paterne Djambou, representative of the Ministry of Energy
  • Alain Djoubi Ossami, representative of the Ministry of Economy
