New World Bank financing process for Chad under review

The Chadian  Minister of Economy and Development Planning, Dr Issa Doubragne, held a high-level meeting with the World Bank on Monday by videoconference.

The virtual meeting on June 15 provided an opportunity to share information between Chad and the World Bank on the new “Prevention and Resilience Allocation” (PRA) and to discuss the eligibility process for Chad. The meeting saw the participation of about forty members of the government.

It showed the support of all the members of the Government who agree to contribute to the preparation of the concept note for the new World Bank financing process in the coming days. The completion of this process will allow Chad to substantially increase the increase in its initial allocation to the IDA19 Window by 75%.

This will be allocated to it on the basis of the Annual Assessment of Policies and Institutions (CPIA / EPI). The increase will bring Chad’s envelope from $ 431 million to $ 780. This envelope can be increased thanks to the sub-regional windows through the envelopes intended for refugees and local communities as well as for the private sector.

This virtual meeting was attended by 16 ministers representing the sectors concerned such as: Rural Development; Infrastructure; Energy; New Information and Communication Technologies; Human Capital; Youth and Women; Water and Sanitation; the Territory Administration and Tourism Development.
