Two loan agreements, notably that of response to Covid-19 and the project to develop groundwater resources and develop water in the provinces of Ennedi East and West of Chad were signed. The document was initialed by the Chadian Minister of the Economy, Dr Issa DOUBRAGNE and the Development Bank of Central African States (BDEAC).

For the two projects, the banking institution has released an envelope of CFAF 29 billion. A total of 15 billion are intended for the Chadian health authorities in order to better fight against the coronavirus pandemic. But also to better respond to possible diseases that may arise, declared the president of the BDEAC, Fortunato-Ofa MBO NCHAMA. As for the second project for the development of underground water resources and the enhancement of water in the provinces of Ennedi East and West, the overall amount released by BDEAC amounts to CFAF 14 billion.

According to the President of this great institution, this project will allow these regions to have access to drinking water (from 20,000 liters / day per inhabitant to 75,000 liters / day per inhabitant today, which corresponds to the standards of WHO), improving health in order to avoid all water-related diseases.

The Minister of Public Health and National Solidarity, Dr Abdoulaye Saber Fadoul, expressed his satisfaction for the funding of this project from the BDEAC in order to fight against this pandemic which has shaken our country so much. This funding comes at the right time to allow its Department to scale up and expand its actions in general to deal with all forms of pathologies that affect the Chadian population.

Minister Issa Doubragne has indicated that this unconditional support from BDEAC, combined with the sustained efforts of other development partners and the Government, contribute to the achievement of the objectives set in “vision 2030, The Chad We Want”.
