GIMACPAY, the converged card, mobile and transfer ecosystem now a reality

The Interbank Monetary Bank of Central Africa (GIMAC) announces the launch of the marketing of integral electronic banking services in CEMAC. At the behest  of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC), GIMAC has implemented a converged card, mobile and money transfer ecosystem, GIMACPAY.

GIMAC is announcing the commercialization of integral electronic payment services at the end of the pilot phase in which the CBC, BGFIBank Gabon, BICEC, UBA, MTN Cameroon, ORANGE Cameroon, CCEI Bank, NFC Bank and BSCA participated Bank, CCA BANK, Express Union, TERRAPAY, MAVIANCE, and during which more than one hundred thousand mobile transactions were successfully processed for a cumulative amount of more than FCFA 1.7 billion.

The population of the CEMAC zone can use the financial services of the above-mentioned institutions, in order to transfer money from a mobile account to a mobile account of another operator or a bank account and vice versa (wallet to wallet) , make purchases of goods and services from affiliated merchants, withdraw money from bank ATMs using a code (voucher), and finally receive international transfers in their accounts mobile or banking (remit).

To date, the GIMAC full electronic payment network has 54 Participants, 800,000 GIMAC and international VISA, Mastercard, UPI cards, 18 million mobile accounts, more than 1,300 ATMs and 1,000 POS machines.

From 2015 to date, GIMAC has processed more than 4 million transactions for a value of more than FCFA 210 billion.

After ensuring accessibility to electronic card through regional interoperability, local compensation and payment in F CFA of international card transactions, GIMAC intends to provide the same facilities for interoperable mobile transactions for the benefit of the populations of the CEMAC.

GIMAC aims to expand its network by integrating all the players in the payment chain present in the CEMAC in the short term, as part of the execution of its financial inclusion missions.
