Gabon budgets 967 million FCFA to assist foreign nationals affected by covid- 19

Gabonese abroad have not been forgotten in the respond plan  and economic and social support against the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) presented by Prime Minister Julien Nkoghe Bekale. 967 million CFA francs were disbursed by the state to help foreign nationals  across borders in 19 countries.

In its strategy against covid-19, the government has incorporated the concerns of Gabonese abroad, particularly those stranded outside the country because of the global health crisis caused by the Coronavirus.

In his communication on the issue, the Prime Minister announced that 967 million CFA francs will be disbursed for these Gabonese; “522 of them  in 19 countries around the world, and being unable to repatriate them, the government will provide financial support of around CFAF 967 million to these compatriots,” the Prime Minister said.

It is hoped that the disbursement of this money will be quick to help these compatriots in emergencies outside the country. Better still, it should be the gateway to the opening of the Assistance Fund for Gabonese Abroad announced last February by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alain-Claude Bilie-By-Nze. A fund supposed to provide assistance to the children of the Nation who find themselves in difficulty outside the country. But for now, to allow those stuck outside because of the Coronavirus to find a little smile, the Minister of Economy and Finance has been instructed to make available this resource which sounds like a relief for these Gabonese mostly made up of students and interns.
