For the success of the first business census launched in the Republic of Congo, the director general of the National Institute of Statistics, Gabriel Batsanga, spoke on October 28 with business managers in the economic capital.
During the meeting with business leaders, Gabriel Batsanga said that the discussions focus on two main issues, namely the organization of the general census of companies in the Congo and the general census of the population and housing. “With regard to the general census of businesses in Congo, as we discuss, there are enumerators who have started to crisscross the national territory with the aim of collecting a certain amount of information.
The objective of this operation is to be able to draw up an exhaustive directory of companies in the formal and informal sectors operating in the Republic of Congo, he said. And to continue: “We appeal here to the heads of companies in the coastal city so that they receive in the fraternity the male or female enumerators deployed throughout the national territory.”
The speaker further asked participants to interest as many people as possible to serve as enumerators. “The registrations are weak, there is not enough enthusiasm in Pointe-Noire on the part of candidates who wish to be enumerators for the general population and housing census. The criteria are not very demanding, the submission of files is free, the first criterion is to be of Congolese nationality, the second to have a bachelor’s degree or above, the third to be able to use a computer. You can provide a dossier including a curriculum vitae, a photocopy of the national identity card, a photocopy of the last diploma and a request to the director general of statistics, ”he said.
Launched since October 23 by the government, the first business census in Congo is financially supported by the World Bank. Out of more than two thousand enumerators that the city of Pointe-Noire needs for its general population and housing census, there are only 1372 files filed.
