GSEZ Mineral Port keeps jobs despite COVID 19 induced shocks

GSEZ Mineral Port has managed to maintain jobs despite the difficulties related to Covid-19. A decision that notably enabled the ore port to maintain its standards with 4 million tonnes of ore transported to the terminal since the start of the year.

Despite the challenges related to Covid-19, GSEZ Mineral Port is working to stay afloat. One of the successes management has been to keep jobs when other companies have downsized. “Despite this situation and thanks to the support of the government, we managed to hold on. And among the commitments we made, there was the preservation of jobs and the achievement of our social responsibility goals, ”said the public relations director of Arise Port & Logistics, on October 27 in Owendo.

According to Dany Menga, the ore port has also achieved its objectives in terms of ore volume in this difficult context. “Our projection was 5 million tonnes of ore in 2020. So far, we are at 4 million tonnes and that’s a satisfaction. We still have work and efforts to make, but we remain optimistic about the future, “he said. Dany Menga was speaking during the visit of the new General Manager of the Merchant Navy to the GSEZ Mineral Port facilities.

“It was important for us to show our facilities to the new Merchant Navy management team so that we shared our vision for our business. The boss of the Merchant Navy already knows our activities very well, we think that we have a lot of challenges to meet together. In this sense, it was just as important to discuss the difficulties that we will have to face in our industry, ”said Dany Menga.

Among the challenges of the ore port, the ability to supply the terminal with raw materials. “And this capacity depends on the means of transport: the railroad. This is a challenge for us as well as for other manufacturers. We think that by sending this message to the Director General of the Merchant Navy, perhaps the minister in charge will be able to see to what extent improve the conditions of transport with regard to the railroad in Gabon ”, concluded Dany Menga. .
