Jeune Afrique has just published the second 2020 edition of its ranking of the top 500 companies on the continent, in its July publication. According to Jeune Afrique, this classification takes into account companies legally present on the continent, holding companies and their subsidiaries. “All of the financial statements come from a reliable, identifiable source, which is certified by listed companies,” said the Pan-African weekly. The magazine also specifies that companies that do not prepare consolidated accounts, like those that do not publish accounts, are absent from this ranking.

“The figures relate to the financial year ended at the end of the 2018 financial year (…) For companies closing their accounts during the year, the rule is as follows: until March 31, 2019, the figures appear in years 2018. For the others, the performances of the previous year are presented, ”explained Jeune Afrique.
