Chad renews partnership with UNDP

The Minister of Economy, Development Planning and International Cooperation, Issa Doubragne received at the beginning of the afternoon of this Monday, February 22, 2021 at his office, the new Resident Representative of the United Nations Program for the Development (UNDP), Kamil Kamaluddeen.

Newly assigned to Chad, the Nigerian Kamil Kamaluddeen went to contact the Minister in charge of the Economy, Development and International Cooperation, to take stock before starting his mission in Chad. Through a document released to the press by his services, Kamil Kamaludden indicates that “It is quite appropriate that my first meeting is with you, our main interlocutor for development cooperation”. For him, within the framework of the partnership between Chad and the UNDP, the most urgent priorities are grouped in four areas:

  • Inclusive growth and sustainable development;
  • Participatory governance and social cohesion;
  • Environmental resilience and disaster reduction;
  • Development of human capital.
  • Kamil Kamaludden further underlined that his presence alongside Minister Doubragne is also intended to confirm the “commitment of the UNDP to continue this cooperation towards even better results”.

For his part, Minister Issa Doubragne declared that they reaffirmed during the interview, “the priorities of the Chadian government, both in the support for the preparations for the next National Development Plan 2022-2026 and for the evaluation. of the 1st plan 2017-2021 which ends ”.

The minister also said that they mentioned other projects and programs, the most important of which is PADELFIT (Support Program for Local Development and Inclusive Finance in Chad), the pilot phase of which was launched in Tandjilé. “We have drawn the attention of the Representative that the program, although implemented on the ground in an acceptable manner still encounters difficulties for which he will get involved himself for their resolution”, he added.
