Chad hails relations with China after successful digitization of infrastructure

The Minister of State, Minister Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, Mr. Kalzeubé Payimi DEUBET, Representing the Marshal of Chad Idriss DEBY ITNO, President of the Republic, Head of State officially launched on Tuesday July 7, 2020, the Project to modernize Chad’s communications infrastructure. A project entirely executed by the ICT infrastructure giant Huawei Technologies

The Minister of Posts, ICTs, Dr Idriss Saleh BACHAR informed the audience that this project will generate several hundred direct jobs for the benefit of the Chadian youth, but also thousands of other indirect jobs. This project will also be a trainer through its training component, more than 60 engineers will be trained by Huawei as part of skills transfer.

Dr Issa DOUBRAGNE, Minister of Economy and Development Planning, recalled that this modernization project is one of the five (5) priority projects that the Marshal of Chad, IDRISS DEBY ITNO, President of the Republic, Head of State presented to its Chinese counterpart, His Excellency Xi JINPING, at the last Sino-African Summit in September 2018 in Beijing in China.

To the Minister of Economy for Development Planning “to express his satisfaction and congratulations on seeing that this project to modernize Chad’s communications infrastructure is being carried out by Huawei.” He expresses his thanks to the Chinese government for the efforts made in particular by His Excellency the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Chad and the donor Exim Bank.

The Director-General of Huawei Technology Chad, Mr. Kong Ling Yu, presented the three components of the project, namely the construction of a national data centre, the construction of an optic fibre network over a distance of 1,200 km crossing the countries from south to east along the Doba-Koumra-Sarh-Kyabé-Amtiman-Abéché-Amzoer-Guéréda-Iriba axis; Networking of the city of N’Djamena by optic fibre over a 50 km loop and modernization of the Sotel Tchad group network by the construction of 200 2G / 3G / 4G sites, a new heart of the network.
