The ministry in charge of finance, through the general directorate of customs and indirect rights services, organized a consultation meeting with insurers on Wednesday.
Goods insurance concerns goods transported by sea, river, air, and land. They can be of different kinds, notably raw materials, foodstuffs, manufactured products and equipment, and finally industrial supplies.
However, the goods transported on both sides of the borders within the framework of the international exchanges are subjected to many particular risks (losses, thefts, breakages, wet …). To these are of course added the risks linked to the various auxiliary operations – handling – loading – unloading – intermediate storage. Hence the concertation of July 15 to assess the different contours of insurance in the transport of these goods.
In his presentation, expert Ngonodji Kordjé noted that the risks associated with the various auxiliary operations cause the public treasury and even insurers to lose a lot of financial resources.
The insurers in their responses and contributions considered that the buyer should require from the supplier a transport insurance from the departure of the goods to the final destination. They ask traders to use insurance to avoid the hassle of customs and insurers.
