The International Bank for Trade and Industry of Gabon (Bicig) is working hard to provide access to government officials. The bank has just informed unbanked public officials in Libreville of “the establishment of a special reception point for opening accounts at its head office”.
A few days after the ultimatum issued to state agents for their bank access by December 31 at the latest, the International Bank for Trade and Industry of Gabon (Bicig) wishes to support those concerned in this operation. The bank informed unbanked public officials in Libreville, in L’Union of November 9, of “the establishment of a special reception point for the opening of accounts at its head office”.
“The documentation to be provided is as follows: a valid ID and a copy of a recent bulletin or receipt, a half-photo in color or black and white,” Bicig said. The banking of state agents promises to be a race against time because “the payment of salaries will henceforth be made by the only mode of bank payment from January 2021”, the government announced on November 3.
We can bet that other banking establishments will also put their hearts into opening public officials’ bank accounts. These are BGFIBank, Ecobank, Orabank, UBA and UGB which, along with Bicig, were selected for the banking of civil servants.
