President Ali Bongo received in audience, on October 16 in Libreville, the President of the Commission of the Economic Community of Central African States (CEMAC), Daniel Ona Ondo, and the Governor of the Bank of the States of Central Africa (BEAC), Abbass Mahamat Tolli. Discussions focused on the updated situation of the main macroeconomic aggregates in the sub-region, foreign exchange reserves, monetary stability and the community’s banking system.

The reforms of the Economic Community of Central African States (CEMAC), the situation of the main macroeconomic aggregates of the sub-region, among others, were at the center of the audience granted by the president of the Republic, Ali Bongo Ondimba, to the president of the Cemac Commission, Daniel Ona Ondo, and to the governor of the Bank of Central African States (Beac), Abbass Mahamat Tolli.

Most of the meeting was devoted to the economic and monetary situation of the sub-region. “We have given him an account of all the reforms we are carrying out,” Abbass Mahamat Tolli said. The Governor of the Beac assures us that inflation is at an acceptable level. “We continue to have a level of inflation that remains below the Community threshold of 3%. We are at 2% ”.

The “good news is that we also have our external sustainability. For money, we have two elements of sustainability: it is the level of inflation which must be below 3%, we are at 2% and the external position of our foreign exchange reserves which are at 70% of the exchange rate. blanket. In these difficult times, it is a very appreciable rate “, he suggested, not without maintaining that” the President appreciated this “.

For the president of the Cemac Commission, the countries have taken appropriate measures to face recent economic shocks. “Naturally at the level of integration, in the sub-region, we have taken measures which are starting to bear fruit. It was normal that we come and report to the Head of State on the arrangements we have made at the regional level “. Daniel Ona Ondo is convinced that “regional integration can be a tool to end the crisis”.

He made no secret of his satisfaction as a Gabonese, especially since during the donors’ tour, they congratulated Gabon on the success of its Nkok cluster. “It is obvious today that the longer the production process, the more there is added value,” he said, indicating that “everyone congratulated Gabon for having accepted to transform wood locally ”.
