Formalized 24 hours earlier, the partnership between UBA Gabon and Airtel Money was presented by the two economic operators on July 3 by web conference. This partnership makes it possible to transfer money from the bank account and/or the UBA prepaid card to the Airtel Money account and vice versa.
A fully secure system. “Security is the first priority when talking about banking, money and the financial implementation system,” said the director of digital bank UBA Gabon. “On the bank side, this is the same type of security that we apply. We haven’t changed our system, we just linked with Airtel Money, which also keeps its security device. All transactions are secure, ”guaranteed Patrick Mouloungui.
Aiming to facilitate the daily life of the customers of the two economic operators, the new offer was also presented as a response to the fight against the Covid-19, through the dematerialization of transactions. UBA Gabon and Airtel Money reassure, however, that their service will continue after the health crisis.
“This service will not go away after Covid-19. Because there are needs that were there before the health crisis and will be there after. UBA has made the dematerialization of customer transactions a priority, “said UBA Gabon’s communications and marketing manager. “Across our country, for example, there are localities that have neither bank branches nor banking services. The collaboration between Airtel Money, with its 18,000 branches, makes it possible to cover all of these areas, ” Ulrich-Oxens Emane says.
Officially announced on July 2, the service is already operational. “To subscribe to this new service, you just need to have a bank account and / or a prepaid UBA card, an Airtel Money account, be in possession of a valid identity document and, duly complete the request form of attachment of the account with UBA Gabon “detailed the marketing director of Airtel Gabon. “To access the Airtel Money menu via your phone, just dial * 150 # and select option 5 (Bank),” said Sylvose Mve Abessolo.
If the subscription to the service is completely free, the operations are however billed. The consultation of the bank balance costs 50 CFA francs, the consultation of the mini banking history is invoiced at 100 francs, against 500 francs for the transfer from the bank to Airtel Money.
“The Airtel Money transfer to the bank / prepaid card is billed at 2.5% of the transaction amount and capped at 5,000 CFA francs,” explained Sylvose Mve Abessolo. In addition, the minimum value per transfer is 1,000 CFA francs against 250,000 francs for the maximum value, with a daily ceiling of 500,000 CFA francs.
