It is in Malabo,  that the Cameroonian public company, Tradex S.A., decided to set up its very first service station on Equatorial Guinean soil. Spread over an area of 3000 m2, it will have a storage capacity of 100,000 liters of fuel divided into 60,000 liters of Super and 40,000 liters of diesel.

The official start of construction work on this service station took place on May 19, 2020 through a premiere laying ceremony. In attendance were the Deputy Minister of Public Works and Hydrocarbons, Enrique Ovono Ondo, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons Santiago Mba eneme Nsua.

During this solemnity, Tradex Managing Director, Simon Paley, took the opportunity to present the company’s ambitions for this neighbouring country and friend of Cameroon. “This is a first step, an act that bodes well for an enchanted tomorrow. We have the ambition to develop in Equatorial Guinea, a network of service stations that will cover the island of Bioko, the Rio Muni and the Island of Annobon. With regard to the populations of Equatorial Guinea, I hope that this first construction will act as a postcard of our know-how, ”he declared.

The construction of the first Tradex service station in Malabo will take 5 months. As soon as it opens, this hydrocarbon sales post will permanently employ 14 young Equatorial Guineans.

The deployment of the Cameroonian company to this neighbouring country is part of the Tradex distribution network development program in Equatorial Guinea. A three-year program started in 2019 and from which the company will have to extend its service offer in the country of Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. It provides in particular for the construction of 15 service stations for an investment of 15 billion FCFA.
