According to the ART (Agence de Régulation des Télécommunications), the problem comes from identity theft, the use of false identity documents during identification or the misuse of identity documents found by third parties for obscure purposes.
Through the ART, Cameroon is therefore considering several solutions for digital security. First and foremost, it intends to have a centralized digital platform where all subscribers and electronic communication terminals will be identified. Unlike the current platform, it will be accessible remotely and can interact with the General Delegation of National Security (DGSN) and the gendarmerie.
In this system, there is no longer any question of a subscriber location map because it is often changing or inaccurate. The latter will be replaced by the tracing of the subscriber’s location history if necessary.
