Public control officials improve their audit performance

Inspectors, auditors and officials from the Inspectorate General of Finance (IGF) are participating in Brazzaville from 12 to 20 November in a training course on the revised international standards of supreme audit institutions.

Organized by the Integrated Public Sector Reform Project (Prisp), the training aims to strengthen the capacities of the personnel of the control bodies of the Republic of Congo called upon to carry out financial audit missions as well as other controls with public and private companies, institutions, establishments, etc.

“This training is in line with the government’s desire to improve the governance of public finances by constantly aligning control institutions with international standards, with a view to better professionalization”, indicated Massamba Serge Noël Régis , representing the Inspector General of Finance.

According to IGF expert at Prisp, Zobi Jean Richard, this training will allow participants to be more operational and professional in the audit profession, in accordance with international standards. The modules that will be developed will cover, among other things, financial audit standards, performance, compliance, etc.

“Congo is already working according to international standards. Only, it is a question of bringing the country to step on the new procedures, in particular the standard on judicial control activities, ”said the trainer, Samuelson Lukimuena, also a consultant to the World Bank.

Co-financed by the Congo and the World Bank, Prisp is an important tool to support the government in public sector governance. It allows the state to speed up the process of sector reforms. The capacity building of the beneficiary institutions of this project will better equip the executives and agents of these public structures to better increase the effectiveness and efficiency of public action.
