Garoua to host Cotton Industrial complex

The laying  of the first stone of the Industrial Complex of Gounana, in the North region took place on March 6, 2021. It is the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MINADER), Gabriel Mbaibé, who chaired this ceremony .

Based on the national newspaper bilingual Cameroon Tribune on kiosk on March 8, 2021, the cotton ginning plant of this complex will be the tenth of the country, for the cotton development company of Cameroon (Sodecoton), after “those of Maroua, Kaélé, Tchabalibi, Guider, Garoua, Ngong, Touboro, Mayo Galke and Homé “.

Apart from the actual factory, this industrial complex will consist of other infrastructures such as the infirmary, the housing of ones, warehouses and various social works. GOUNNA, this large agricultural basin, according to the mayor of the municipality of Lagdo, Luc Kaga, is a locality between Ngaoundéré and Garoua. It is precisely at a hundred kilometers from Garoua.

According to our colleague, “the new complex will be installed on an area of ​​30 hectares. The plant will be adapted to the climatic operating conditions of the North Region. It will be able to grove 335 tons of cotton a day. Cotton production has been embellished from the 2016-2017 agricultural campaign. Seed cotton collection records are recorded year after year and now exceed 340,000 tons “.

During his circumstance speech, the Minister made a tribute to farmers grouped under the banner of their association, the National Confederation of Cameroon Cotton Farmers (CNPC-C). He transmitted the Government’s encouragement to the Top Management of the Sodecoton, represented by the PCO, Jean Abate Edi’i, also Governor of the Northern Region, and Mohamadou Bayero, his Managing Director.

This complex built on the financing of the state of Cameroon will emerge in “twenty months, if the chronogram of operations is respected,” can be read in the columns of the log. For this infrastructure, “more than 10 billion FCFA will be mobilized for the construction of this infrastructure”.
