Gabon Telecom supports households against covid-19

Gabon Telecom went there to contribute to the Food Bank on April 30 in Owendo. The leader of the telephony in Gabon has donated 60 tonnes of basic necessities and 45,000 pieces of soap, intended for households in difficulty during the current crisis, following the coronavirus.

Responding to the appeal for solidarity launched by the highest authorities, Gabon Telecom made a fine gesture in the response against the coronavirus. On April 30 in Owendo, the country’s leader in mobile telephony carried out a major work at the food bank, dedicated to the distribution of food to the most vulnerable households in this period of health crisis.

Received by the Minister of Commerce, the donation consists of 60 tonnes of basic foodstuffs and 45,000 pieces of soap. “Gabon Telecom, as a corporate citizen, could not remain insensitive to the request of the highest authorities in the country,”  the boss of the telecommunications company said.

“This crisis is hitting some Gabonese households with full force, and we are convinced that only strict compliance with hygiene measures, rules of social distancing, solidarity and responsibility will enable us to win this war,” added Abderrahim Koumaa. Since the start of the coronavirus crisis in the country, Gabon Telecom has placed itself at the forefront of companies engaged in the response to the terrible pandemic. In late March, the Moroccan company notably committed to supporting the government, by providing it with financial assistance of up to 60 million CFA francs.
