Douala Port Authority extends RTC’s activities at container Terminal by 3 years

This is one of the resolutions endorsed by the main port of the Cameroon during a board meeting held in Yaoundé on Monday July 27, 2020.

The Cameroonian Authority (RTC) which manages the container terminal of the autonomous port of Douala, since January 1, 2020, after the sidelining of Douala International Terminal (DIT), a subsidiary of the French group Bolloré Logistics and the Dutch of APM terminals will keep control of this business sector for a long time to come.

Indeed, at the end of a board of directors held in Yaoundé, on Monday July 27, 2020, the Autonomous Port of Douala decided to extend by 3 years, the stay of RTC at the head of the PAD container terminal. , which in principle was officially due to end in January 2021.

“Taking note of the management constraints faced by the RTC and drawing lessons from these first six months of operation of the terminal in accordance with government guidelines, the board of directors decided to reorganize the RTC and extend its duration by 3 years renewable as of January 1, 2021, ” Shey Jones Yembe said, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PAD, in the press release issued at the end of the aforementioned Board meeting.

A decision which according to Shey Jones Yembe, is mainly motivated by the excellent results obtained by RTC, despite the legal-media whirlwind that accompanied the change of concessionaire.

“Despite the context that characterized the resumption of operation of the container terminal on January 1, 2020, the RTC has accomplished its mission well, by providing users of the said terminal with a quality service, while respecting performance and results that were set for it,” the Board Chair of the Autonomous Port of Douala.
