Chad and Germany review Economic cooperation

The Minister of Economy and Development Planning, Dr Issa Doubragne, received on Thursday, Dr Jakob Haselhuber, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany. Several subjects were discussed with a particular focus on economic cooperation.

The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr Jakob Haselhuber, spoke for more than an hour with the head of the Department of Economy and Development Planning, Dr Issa Doubragne, on Thursday 11 June. The activities of German cooperation in Chad, the development of central Africa, security, the economy, the coronavirus pandemic, the coordination of efforts between the two countries are among the topics of the meeting.

The German ambassador’s visit was an opportunity to identify points of common interest, hence the proposal to open direct and frank dialogue in order to discuss bilateral issues as soon as possible. The aim is to give Germany the opportunity to reinvest new ones in the economic and vital sectors.

The Minister of Economy and Development Planning says he is very satisfied and very happy to welcome the German ambassador, a first of its kind. Dr Issa Doubragne goes on to say that “Germany is a precious and very important country” for Chad. This meeting made it possible to assess the strengths and weaknesses in terms of challenges, potentials and possibilities of opportunities to help revive economic cooperation between the two countries.

The questions of insecurity with the atrocities of the sect of Boko Haram, refugees, the oil crisis, the increase of Germany’s portfolio for Chad as well as the pandemic of Covid-19 have not been obscured by the two personalities.
