Central African Development Bank and Gabon chart new Perspectives

The Prime Minister of the Transition, Raymond Ndong Sima, spoke this Thursday, January 9 with the Vice President of the Development Bank of Central African States (BDEAC), Jean Paterne Megne Ekoga. The institution’s balance sheet for the year 2024 was presented to the head of government, as well as the outlook for 2025. We thus learned that of the 34 billion CFA francs injected into the economies of the 6 countries of the sub-region, Gabon benefited from 13 billion CFA francs, or 38.2% of this envelope.

Jean Paterne Megne Ekoga, the Vice President of the Development Bank of Central African States (BDEAC), was the guest of the Head of the Transitional Government, Raymond Ndong Sima, this Thursday, January 9. During this visit, he took stock of this sub-regional banking institution for the past year.

For the 2024 financial year, BDEAC disbursed 34 billion CFA francs for the 6 countries of the sub-region. In this envelope, Gabon benefited from 13 billion CFA francs, or 38.2% of the amount disbursed by the bank.

Regarding the organization of BDEAC services, Gabon has 5 out of 21 agents on the management committee. ” Figures that reflect the role and place that our country occupies in the smooth running of this bank, one of whose roles is participating in the economic integration of Central African countries by financing national and multinational investments and economic integration projects ,” the Prime Minister’s Office said.

For 2025, the BDEAC is considering an emergency plan for the integrated economic development of the countries in its area. This involves making available to the 6 countries the financial resources needed for growth-promoting projects. And the Head of Government has therefore reiterated Gabon’s commitment to supporting the BDEAC.

A member of this financial institution since its creation in 1975, Gabon occupies a prominent place within this bank.

The BDEAC is an international financial institution responsible for financing the development of member countries of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC). It brings together six African states (Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo Brazzaville, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon) and three extra-regional members (Kuwait, France, Germany).
