Castel Group unveils 9th Production Unit

Boissons du Cameroun marked an 18% increase in its production capacity through the inauguration of its new line installed in its Yaoundé factory.

Built by the Krönes company and inaugurated on March 21, 2024, by the Minister of Commerce, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, representative of the Prime Minister; this new production unit will boost the production and sales of this subsidiary of the Castel group which released 1 billion 100 million liters from its factories in 2023.

According to Stéphane Descazeaud, Managing Director of Boissons du Cameroun, there is talk of increasing the capacity of the Yaoundé factory, which currently displays a deficit of 850,000 hectoliters (from 2.8 million hectoliters). hectoliters to 3.6 million hectoliters). Another challenge, there is also the need to increase the manufacturing of drinks in 33cl/50cl/60cl/65cl formats by 18%, and their packaging by 31% with the installation of a mixed line with a capacity production of 35,000 Btles/hour. Built on an area of ​​2,800m2, the unit whose work began in May 2023 for a period of 8 months, benefited from the support of 44 people from the Boissons du Cameroun side and the involvement of 48 service companies. local services.

If the demands to be covered are multiple both at the level of consumers and of the structure itself, it must be emphasized that the commissioning of this new production unit constitutes an important employment niche for young Cameroonians. In fact, 127 jobs are to be filled with the commissioning of the production unit, 74 jobs have already been created including 51 permanent positions and 53 positions are still available.

At the company level, the challenge is to complete the supply of efficient and modern production tools; to restore the proper functioning of the facilities and improve the company’s production capacity in order to meet market needs and produce Guinness beers.

On the consumer side, it is a question of supplying an increasingly demanding clientele in quantity and quality in order to respond not only to the growing demand of the beverage market in general but also to the government’s request to produce and distribute the GUINNESS beer in other regions and not only in the Littoral Region, in accordance with the commitments made by the Castel group during the acquisition of GUINNESS Cameroun SA a year ago supports the General Director of Boissons du Cameroun.
