The   bank for Small and Medium sized Enterprises in Cameroon wants to strengthen the capacity of the human capital engaged in key sectors of Agriculture. This follows a deal reached with Agence de Petite et Moyen Entreprises to manage an angro-business scheme dubbed TRANSFAGRI.

The bank’s new business plan as unveiled by the General Manager of the Banque Camerounaise de Petite et Moyen Entreprise BC-PME sees agriculture as the pillar of the country’s economy in the years ahead. And for Agnes Ndoumbe Mandeng, the sector is in dire need of human and financial capital to provide immense added value to the sector.

Development of cereals, aquaculture, oil palm farming and poultry are the main areas targeted by the 200 million FCFA funding scheme that has been realized with the efforts of the French government. Pre-funding of SME’s producing raw materials and post- funding of those implicated in transformation and distribution of farm produce are also in the program.

Beneficiaries will go through the scheme for one year, where they will be trained on how they can increase their agricultural yields through improved farming techniques. Four offices of BC-PME in the main agricultural basins of Cameroon; that is Yaounde, Douala, Garoua and Bafoussam will be opened as soon as possible to pilot the program. ;>n
