Cameroon Postal Service CAMPOST to launch E-Commerce platform soon

The invitation to tender is limited to six consultants whose files were expected on April 8, 2020. At the end of the selection, the best will be selected to support the State in carrying out a feasibility study for the launch of a platform for e-commerce at Cameroon postal services (CAMPOST).

The study is funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB), as part of the Cameroonian component of the Central Africa Backbone (CAB) project. It consists not only of interconnecting the six countries (Cameroon, Chad, Gabon, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Congo) of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) to fiber optics, but above all of deploying it within of these states.

As part of the 2019-2021 plan contract with the State, CAMPOST has embarked on a restructuring plan of 22.8 billion FCFA, including 4.4 billion FCFA in equity and 18.3 billion FCFA  support from the State and the AfDB. Restructuring deemed satisfactory by the government.

Indeed, the public postal company has notably acquired an integrated management software package; the supply and commissioning of 58 franking machines; installation and commissioning of security equipment for postal items; the acquisition of infrastructure to upgrade the security of the data center, which enables it to be a major player in the digital economy in Cameroon and to bet on e-commerce.
