Cameroon Electronic payment switch goes operational

Cameroon’s Electronic payment switch is now operating across the country. Laucnhed by the Minister of Post and Telecommunication Minette Libom Li Likeng, this switch managed by the Cameroon Postal Service CAMPOST, aims to promote the inter-operability of the various services offered by operators using the national electronic communication network. This interoperability will be performed via a single gateway.

The platform ensures fair interconnection conditions, reduce the costs of mobile financial transactions and promote financial inclusion.

This Electronic payment switch is fruit of a decision reached by the Minister of Post and Telecommunications determines the conditions and operating rules of a USSD code (#237#) that grants access to the national platform for the aggregation of electronic communications in Cameroon. Due to the social distancing  precautions taken by government against the coronavirus, Tuesday’s launch took place through a videoconferencing platform at the CAMPOST Deta Centre and was relayed on 15 sites including, the conference room of the CAMPOST headquarters building, the conference room of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, and the meeting rooms of the regional delegations of CAMPOST.
