Cameroon Government to aid COVID 19 hit SMEs with 2 billion FCFA

The announcement was made during a press briefing that the Minister of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts gave on October 5, 2020. To be eligible for this donation, “you must be a Cameroonian company with proof of legal existence and affiliated with an umbrella body; operate in sectors that have been strongly impacted by the novel Coronavirus pandemic, in particular the transformation of local products, the digital economy, the production of digital media and event media, among others; the business should have been in effective and continuous activity since at least the beginning of the 2019 financial year and have been registered.

As for artisans and craft businesses, you must be Cameroonian or be a Cameroonian craft business, have been registered with a municipal craft office for at least three years, belong to the textile or cosmetic industry. The craftsman must also be up to date with his tax contributions and prove that he is affiliated with the CNPS. Work in particular in the manufacture of masks or hydro-alcoholic gels, among others. These conditions are also valid for organizations of the social economy.”

The candidates will have to put together files in due form. Then, it will be the process of selecting bidders and monitoring and evaluation of the destination of the financial support granted. The selected files will finally be sent to the Ministry of Finance for payment.
