BW Energy sets ambitious plan despite covid-19

BW Energy gave an update on May 4 of its activities on Dussafu Marin, located off the coast of Gabon. If the oil company currently produces 17,500 barrels per  day of crude oil on this permit, it nevertheless expects an average production of 15,000 to 16,500 barrels per day in 2020.

In this period of Coronavirus crisis, BW Energy took stock of the exploitation and development of the Dussafu Marin license, off the coast of Gabon. The oil company announced on May 4 that daily operations at Dussafu continue to operate as expected, with four wells (DTM-2H, DTM-3H, DTM-4H and DTM-5H) producing to FPSO BW Adolo at a current rate of around 17,500 b / day of (crude) oil production.

On the Turtle field (located on the Dussafu Marin permit), gross production averaged 11,485 barrels per day for the first quarter of 2020 and total gross production was 1.045 million barrels of oil. BW Energy’s share of gross production was 768,150 barrels of oil. Dussafu Marin is made up of BW Energy (operator, 73.5%), Tullow Oil (10%), Gabon Oil Company (9%) and Panoro Energy (7.5%).

For 2020, BW Energy is counting on an honorable outlook on Dussafu Marin. Total production on this permit should be between 15,000 to 16,500 barrels per  day (gross) on the basis of the four wells, compared to 11,800 b / day on average in 2019. The oil company has excluded the DTM well from its plans. -6H whose drilling was completed in March, while the final installation program was previously scheduled for June 2020.

“Due to the Coronavirus situation, it is now uncertain when this well can be connected to the FPSO BW Adolo,” BW Energy announced. As restrictions on international travel limit the movement of personnel, subcontractors and essential equipment to and from Gabon, the oil company has also suspended drilling of the DTM-7H well.
