Second Gabon -UK Trade and Investment Forum opens in Libreville

Since June 20, the Hôtel de la Sablière in Libreville has hosted the second edition of the UK-Gabon Trade and Investment Forum. A major event bringing together British investors and representatives of the Gabonese administration. This is an economic exchange meeting to offer participants a platform for sharing new opportunities, partnerships and investments between the two countries.

The second edition of the UK-Gabon Trade and Investment Forum will be held from June 20 to 21, 2024 at the Sablière Hotel in Libreville. Organized jointly by the company DMA Invest (Developing Markets Associates), and the National Investment Promotion Agency (ANPI-Gabon) with the support of the British High Commission, this event aims to strengthen economic relations between the United Kingdom and Gabon.

“ This forum constitutes essential proof of strengthening economic ties between our two countries, by promoting trade, investments and business partnerships. The resulting discussions and collaborations will undoubtedly create new opportunities and strengthen economic relations between our two countries ,” declared Patrick Christian Ebe, Secretary General of the Ministry of the Economy and Participations, opening the proceedings. .

During this first day, the various public and private sectors presented Gabon’s business opportunities to British investors. This, in the field of infrastructure, transport, agri-food, energy, mines, finance, consultancy services, hydrocarbons, environment and new technologies. “ The main objective is to be able to both attract all the financial mechanisms within the Commonwealth to finance Gabon’s development infrastructure projects, in order to support its development, but also to provide the opportunity Gabonese companies to diversify their source of partners and financiers ,” explained Ghislain Moandza Mboma, general director of ANPI-Gabon.

The first panel of this forum focused on business opportunities in Gabon’s high-potential sectors. Stakeholders, including Hashir Mabignath Sall, Deputy Director General of ANPI-Gabon, educated participants on the major economic issues expected at the end of this UK-Gabon Forum. These fruitful exchanges made it possible to create a framework for B2B exchanges between members of DMA, UK Export Finance (UKEF) and the local economic fabric.

During the second panel bringing together senior administration executives, including Ghislain Moandza Mboma, director general of ANPI-Gabon, Danielle Biwawou, director general of the Chamber of Commerce, as well as actors from the private sector, the speakers advocated for intensifying direct investments from the UK to Gabon, strengthening trade between the two countries, prospecting new markets in the United Kingdom’s economic area and for reaffirming the commitments made by Gabon since its accession to the Commonwealth.

As a reminder, the first edition of this event brought together British companies and stakeholders from eight French-speaking African countries in October 2022 in the United Kingdom.
