RTC management praises good performance at Douala Port container Terminal despite challenges

The Deputy General Manager at the Régie du Terminal à Conteneurs (RTC) of the Autonomous Port of Douala has lauded the management of the Terminal within the past 6 months despite inherent challenges. Faustin Dingana is happy the container terminal was in good shape despite the spread of Covid 19.

During an interview on CRTV, the Deputy Director of the RTC has expressed optimism over the management of the container terminal.

Faustin Dingana says, “If you take note of the results of the RTC, you will realize that the RTC has fulfilled the purpose for which it was created, has properly accomplished its missions”, he declared explaining that the alarmist information on his companies are the work of those who are not partners or clients of the RTC. He talks about “fully preserved” jobs.

Faustin Dingana said that in order to make things easier for port players, his teams “served the customers, mainly the shipowners who come with ships to unload containers with us, to load other containers. We delivered the containers from Cameroonian shippers ”.

He adds that the RTC has fueled the Cameroonian economy with imported goods and allowed the export of containerized goods. He indicates that 60 ships have been docked on the RTC docks for 6 months. According to him, the Covid-19 has not had an impact on the activities.

The boss of the RTC however confesses difficulties the most aching which is aging of equipment. “We inherited very old equipment that was maintained for the last few years approximately. This equipment, which is the tools by which we operate on the terminal, could constitute difficulties if measures are not taken, ”he warns. To get around the problem, the Deputy Director of the RTC has taken provisional measures. He plans to start renewing the equipment.

Finally Faustin Dingana is delighted to have been able to ensure the continuity of the public service of the Container Terminal, to have kept the Cameroonian economy standing, lowered the costs of passage, paid the fees due to the port of Douala and satisfied the shippers of the Cameroon, the Central African Republic and Chad.
