Gabon strengthens Cooperation with the World Bank

On a visit to Libreville, Cheick F. Kanté, World Bank Director for Central Africa, met with Prime Minister Raymond Ndong Sima on Wednesday. He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to several strategic projects and denied any suspension of Gabon.

Gabonese Prime Minister Raymond Ndong Sima received Cheick F. Kanté, Director of Operations for Central Africa at the World Bank, in Libreville on Wednesday, January 29. The meeting is part of the regular dialogue between Gabon and the financial institution.

The discussions focused on various projects supported by the World Bank in strategic sectors such as digital, electricity, water and forest management, essential to the development and strengthening of the country’s infrastructure.

Cheick F. Kanté also wanted to clarify the situation regarding a rumor of suspension of Gabon by the World Bank: ” What happened is not a suspension of Gabon. Gabon has never been suspended by the World Bank. The proof is that we continue to work on several projects .” He was accompanied by Aïssatou Diallo, resident representative of the institution for Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
