Scheduled to end on April 30, the bid closing for the 12th call for tenders for the allocation of 35 deep oil blocks has been postponed indefinitely. A decision linked to the Coronavirus crisis.

“The Gabonese State launched on November 7, 2018 in Cape Town, South Africa, the 12th call for tenders for the allocation of 35 oil blocks from its sedimentary basin. The development of this event, the deadline for the submission of tenders was set for April 30, 2020, is confronted with the current global crisis linked to the Covid-19 pandemic. Gabon, like other countries, has taken containment measures to combat the spread of Covid-19, “said the Minister of Petroleum.
“In view of the above, I inform all national and international oil companies that the closing date for the submission of tenders is postponed to a later date,” Vincent de Paul Massassa said in a press release published on 23 April. The Minister of Petroleum stressed that the government will communicate on the new date “when the sanitary conditions allow a normal resumption of the activities”.
Last January, Gabon had already postponed the closing of the submission of tenders for the 12th call for tenders. In view of the enthusiasm aroused for the sedimentary basin and sensitive to requests from oil companies, the petroleum administration had postponed the closing of the submission of tenders from January 10 to April 30, 2020
