Gabon gives out more than 50.000 Food Bank vouchers in two weeks

Two weeks after launching its activities in Grand Libreville, the Food Bank is on track to reach its target of 60,000 households impacted by the distribution of food vouchers and kits. As of April 29, 50,604 food vouchers have been distributed in the capital and neighboring municipalities, according to the Ministry of National Solidarity.

If the activities had started slowly before intensifying in recent days, at the Ministry of National Solidarity, we are delighted that the grumbling for the less legitimate of the populations about the operation of distribution of food aid promised to the most vulnerable begins to diminish. The reason is that, in spite of the transition from total confinement to partial and geographic confinement of Grand Libreville which once again allows people to go about their business, several thousand people have continued to receive state support as announced on Monday by the Prime Minister. So much so that the target of 60,000 households impacted in the capital and neighboring municipalities is on track to be reached.

In his report of April 29, the spokesman for the Food Bank informs that 50,604 food vouchers have been distributed. The distribution operation, specifies Tony Engouma, primarily affects residents of sensitive districts of the boroughs who have not been visited since the launch of activities.

According to the Food Bank, the monetary value of its vouchers distributed corresponds to more than 1.2 billion CFA francs, benefiting more than 240,000 people.

With regard to food kits distributed primarily to the sick, the elderly and those living with a disability, a total of 6,200 lots were made available, impacting more than 37,000 people.
