Gabon and USA strengthen Economic Cooperation

The President of the Transition, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, met with the United States Ambassador to Gabon, Vernelle Trim Fitzpatrick, on February 12, 2025. At the heart of the discussions: American investments in Gabon, the inauguration of the Coca-Cola factory in Owendo and a cybersecurity initiative for the training of 1,000 young Gabonese.

On February 12, 2025, the President of the Transition, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, met with Vernelle Trim Fitzpatrick, Ambassador of the United States to Gabon. This meeting aimed to strengthen trade relations between the two countries and promote Gabon’s economic opportunities to American investors.

The recent inauguration of the Coca-Cola plant in Owendo was at the heart of the discussions. “ I had a very good meeting with the President of the Transition regarding how we can work together to strengthen the ties of cooperation between the United States and Gabon. The President was present at the inauguration of a new plant by Coca-Cola here in Gabon, and we also discussed this plant, as well as other initiatives underway to create jobs for the Gabonese ,” said Vernelle Trim Fitzpatrick.

The discussions also focused on the arrival of an American delegation to explore investment opportunities. ” We also discussed how to encourage American investors as well as businessmen and women to come here, including the fact that we had a delegation last week to explore existing opportunities here in Gabon ,” the diplomat added.

Finally, bilateral cooperation was discussed, particularly through the initiative of the company Cybastion. Specializing in cybersecurity, it provides free digital training for 1,000 young Gabonese. This meeting helped to consolidate ties between Libreville and Washington.
