Threatened directly by the Covid-19 from French soil, Heetch the French VTC application has decided to suspend its operations in Cameroon. This is contained in a recent statement made public.
“We deeply regret not being able to continue our investments in Cameroon,” the startup said in its press release; while also specifying the suspension of its mobile application in the city of Douala where it was mainly present.
The consequences are numerous after this decision. Hundreds of motorcycles and the cars in service for the group are no longer be operational and therefore their drivers will be unemployed as well as all the Cameroonian members currently in service with this company.
Heetch started operations only a few months ago in this country around September 2019. However, it had announced earlier on May 8, an effective fundraising of 34 million euros, about 23 billion FCFA to expand in several African countries. Apart from Cameroon, the situation in two African countries is also in doubt. They are Algeria and Senegal while it is developing its activities in Belgium at the same time.
The French company says it will still continue its deployment in other countries.
