In its 6th edition, the Madiba Festival along the banks of the Wouri River in the Littoral Region of Cameroon, from March 1st to 3rd, 2024, served as a platform for cultural exchange and heritage sharing, showcasing a spirit of unity and coexistence.
Under the leadership of its promoter, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, a native of the Littoral Region and also the Minister of Arts and Culture of Cameroon, the festival attracted numerous visitors who also came to appreciate the lush nature of Bona’Anja Siga-Bonjo.
Festival-goers were treated to various artistic and cultural performances, showcasing the rich and diverse expressions of the region. This included an exquisite touch brought from the Far North region by a Massa dance group. Attendees also had the opportunity to discover artistic objects, particularly those exhibited at the Museum of EAU (Environment, Arts, and Social Universe among the Sawa people). Thrones, traditional umbrellas, masks with animal faces, and the sacred “Tangué” passage, a royal prow with deep symbolism, were on display. The presentation of traditional craftsmanship, including pharmacopoeia, architecture, and more, added rhythm to the festivities. Madiba 2024 was a beautiful celebration, gaining popularity with each passing year.
