For the third consecutive year, the Autonomous Port of Douala (PAD) has obtained the long-term ratings “A” and short-term “A2” awarded by Bloomfield Investment Corporation. These results confirm the financial strength and international credibility of this strategic institution, despite the challenges of a tense global economic context.

On January 16, 2025, the Autonomous Port of Douala (PAD) announced the renewal of its excellent financial ratings by the Bloomfield Investment Corporation firm. With a long-term rating of “A” and a short-term rating of “A2”, with a stable outlook, the Cameroonian institution confirms its positioning as a major and reliable player on the economic scene. These ratings are based on solid fundamentals, including strategic management and a secure repayment capacity thanks to robust liquidity.
Several key elements explain this remarkable performance. The PAD has been able to effectively implement its strategic development programs. These actions, oriented towards improving port infrastructure and services, have made it possible to achieve significant beneficial results. Furthermore, the institution displays appreciable financial flexibility and a comfortable cash flow, which strengthen its capacity to cope with increasing economic pressures.
However, the report also highlights the challenges facing the PAD. The slowdown in international trade, combined with a decline in exports, has led to a slight decrease in overall goods traffic. These elements, although worrying, have not affected the PAD’s ability to maintain its competitiveness and reassure its investors.
Faced with these challenges, the PAD remains committed to a dynamic of continuous improvement. True to its strategic triptych “Performance, Attractiveness, Competitiveness”, the port authority is multiplying initiatives to consolidate its achievements and maintain its attractiveness. Since 2017, it has regularly carried out financial assessments under the supervision of the Ministry of Finance, its supervisory authority. These exercises not only improve its governance but also strengthen investor confidence.
In a global economic context marked by uncertainty, the Autonomous Port of Douala intends to capitalize on its assets to remain a driving force of the Cameroonian economy. Its strategy aims to attract new partners and continue to play a key role in boosting regional trade. Despite the constraints, the PAD positions itself as an example of resilience and financial rigor, ready to meet the challenges ahead to maintain its place at the heart of economic exchanges.
