Discussions underway in Chad for the payment of internal debts

No consensus between the Chadian Ministry of Finance and Budget and credit institutions. The two parties have deferred on the possibility of paying the domestic debt in a meeting on Tuesday.

Domestic debt payments must wait another week. A meeting between the Minister of Finance and Budget, Hamid Tahir Nguilin and the banking establishments took place on Tuesday, April 28. A meeting aimed at allowing the release of 110 billion CFA francs in a short time to pay off the domestic debt.

For the bosses of banking establishments, one should not go quickly if necessary. According to them, certain details must be settled before proceeding to the payment of this debt. As a result, both parties have given themselves a week to finalize the final details before announcing payment.

For the president of the Association of Professionals of Credit Institutions (APEC), Bichara Brahim Kossi, the proposal made by the government deserves to be reframed at a certain level. “We have noted the points both at the level of the banks and at the level of the Ministry of Finance and Budget which deserve to be returned. Thus, he was instructed to work in parallel to settle certain points and to meet again at the beginning of next week to continue on the discussion and definitively stop the conditionalities related to this operation,”  Bichara Brahim Kossi explained. The payment for this interior was announced by the President of the Republic, Idriss Deby Into. A promise made during his message to the nation. He had instructed the government to release a sum of 110 billion to pay off the domestic debt.
