Dangote Cameroon records increased sales of cement in First quarter of 2020

Nigeria cement giant Dangote has announced that its branch in Cameroon sold 312 thousand tonnes of cement in the first quarter of 2020, generating and increased rate of 4.3% compared to 299 thousand tonnes in 2019.

“We estimate that the total cement market in Cameroon was around 819,900 tonnes in the first three months of 2020.” the Company said. But the 1.5 million tonnes per year  clinker grinding plant hosted in Douala  has made Dangote Cement Cameroon to control 38% of the market in the country.

Dangote Cement explains that in all of the African markets where it operates, 2020 started with strong growth, despite the first effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The market it says “is mainly driven by individual construction projects, government housing projects and further development infrastructure of the African Cup of Nations. ”
