Congo’s Postal Bank receives 10 billion FCFA from BDEAC

The president of the Central African States Development Bank (BDEAC), Fortunato-Ofa Mbo Nchama and the director general of the Postal Bank of Congo (BPC), Calixte Tabangoli signed, on August 25 in Brazzaville, an agreement loan aimed at supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The BDEAC financing in the amount of 10 billion FCFA aims to support Congolese SMEs in the development of their activities in a context marked by the health crisis of covid-19.

For Fortunato-Ofa Mbo Nchama, president of the BDEAC, this credit line will allow the BPC to pursue its development plan, with a particular focus on strengthening its portfolio of activities and amplifying its products, in the opting to significantly promote the access of SMEs to financing and financial inclusion in Congo.

“This noble mission is devolved to the BPC by the Congolese authorities, in its capacity as a local bank and is justified in particular by a major asset, namely the large postal network which makes it the largest in the country with nearly thirty agencies spread over the whole of the country, ”he said.

And to continue, “this major asset will allow the BPC to be able to intervene throughout the entire Congolese territory”.

The president of BDEAC also announced that the said transaction will help maintain many jobs, create new ones, increase the income of the SMEs concerned, while supporting their growth.

Beneficiary of this funding, the general manager of the BPC, Calixte Tabangoli, has indicated that through this loan the Postal Bank of Congo hopes to carry out projects and programs in the short and medium term, with the hope of regaining the support of the BDEAC in the future for even larger loans.

“Today we are obtaining the support of the BDEAC to support the action of the State in the economic recovery of our country after an extremely difficult period linked to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. This is a new mark of confidence from an institution whose reputation is well established, “he said.

Having taken part in the ceremony, Ludovic Ngatsé, Minister Delegate for the Budget was delighted with this support which will help support the Congolese economy.

It should be noted that the company Aries Investments in its capacity as financial advisor supported the BPC in obtaining and setting up this financing. Indeed, the aforementioned financial advisory company with an investment banking vocation, based in Brazzaville, advises its clients, legal entities of public or private law in the mobilization and structuring of financing both from commercial banks, from financial institutions of the development such as BDEAC or investment funds.

“We are happy to have supported the BPC in this transaction. Our objective is to play an active role in the mobilization of financing in the sub-region from our financial partners and thus participate in the emergence of real national and regional champions “, declared Loic Mackosso, managing partner of Aries Investissements.
