Chadian President frowns at poor electricity delivery in the country, summons emergency meeting to resolve the situation

Chadian Head of State Idriss Deby Itno has lashed out at the National Electricity Company SNE for not providing electricity to the population despite measures taken to accompany the enterprise.

“The situation  irritating the President of the Republic, Idriss Deby Itno who, from the start of the meeting, expressed his misunderstanding in the face of the incapacity of the National Electricity Company (SNE) to satisfy its customers despite the enormous support from the State, the subsidy of which amounts to CFAF 60 billion per year at the rate of 11 fuel tanks per day, ” the official page of the Presidency of the Republic read

To salvage the situation, President Deby has chaired a meeting on the energy crisis. It was in the presence of the Ministers and General Managers of public companies in charge of this sector.

The meeting led to the taking of several decisions in favor of a lasting solution to the energy crisis, informs the President of the Republic. As part of the social support measures, electricity is made free by the State during this pandemic period, but it is lacking in homes.

The President highlighted on his Twitter handle, “We had an energy meeting. The inconvenience experienced by SNE subscribers is inconceivable. The annual state subsidy for the SNE exceeds CFAF 60 billion. We have set up a monthly meeting to monitor this sector.”

Chadians especially in the capital N’Djamena have been greatly affected by the electricity epilepsy from SNE.
