Chadian Customs acquire imagery platform to boost revenue security

On July 3, the Chadian Minister of Finance and Budget, Tahir Hamid Nguilin, paid an observation visit to the customs imagery platform in N’guéli. This platform is aimed at boosting revenue collection by securing it.

“It is a modernization of customs services in Chad. They will make it possible to secure the receipts, and especially the manufacture, the time taken for the loading and the reloading of the vehicles, as well as the difficulties of the controls “, Tahir Hamid Nguilin, Minister of Finances and Budget, rejoiced about customs imagery, during his visit to the N’guéli site.

The customs imagery, the subject of the minister’s visit, is made up of 4 vehicles, each equipped with an operating table and an X-ray box. These devices are intended for scanning container shipments destined for Chad.

This project, developed in 2011, really started in 2012 with the establishment of the platform. Having noted the completion of the work to set up the platform, the Minister declared that these vehicles fitted with customs imagery will also serve to prevent illicit or prohibited products entering the country.

Thanks to its technology which meets the international standards recommended by the World Customs Organization and its technical and financial partners, this platform is capable of “scanning in 3 minutes, the capacity and content of cargoes”.

According to Tahir Hamid Nguilin, customs in Nguéli is just the first step. The customs posts of Koutéré on the border with Cameroon, Adré with Sudan and the borders with Niger and Nigeria will also be equipped with the same technology
