Chad to create Chamber of Women Entrepreneurship

The National Assembly of Chad has  passed a bill on Tuesday establishing a National Chamber of Women’s Entrepreneurship. A project presented by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Promotion of the Private Sector.

The project to create the National Chamber of Women Entrepreneurship (CNEF) is a response to the concerns of women. It was adopted on June 30 by the elected representatives of the people.

In Chad, women make up more than half of the population. The Minister of Trade, Industry and Promotion of the Private Sector, Achta Djibrine Sy, assisted by the Minister Secretary-General of the Government, in charge of Relations with the National Assembly, Mariam Mahamat Nour, was opposite the deputies to defend the said law Project. The elected representatives of the people welcomed this initiative and voted by 138 votes for.

The National Chamber of Women’s Entrepreneurship is about making women and girls in Chad more entrepreneurial. It is a framework that will train, mentor and orient women because many are in the informal sector and are struggling to emerge in the business world towards the formal sector.

There are also difficulties in boosting the development of female entrepreneurship in Chad. Women could now assert themselves, participate in decisions and negotiate public contracts.
