From now on, economic operators will be able to pay their customs duties and taxes via the Airtel Money service. The official launching ceremony of this innovation by the Ministry of Finance and Budget, in partnership with the mobile telephone company, Airtel Tchad, takes place this Wednesday, October 21, at the premises of the Directorate General of Customs and Indirect Rights.
he launch of this service comes just a few weeks after that of the service known as “Airtel Money Bagara”, which consists of securing the receipts of cattle sellers thanks to Airtel Money. This time, it is about facilitating and securing the payment of customs duties and taxes via electronic money with this same service.
This new service, which is in line with the policy of digitizing the means of collecting State revenue, “will prevent the loss of revenue and fraud”, advocates Mr. Abdekérim Mahamat Charfadine, Managing Director Customs Services and Indirect Duties.
“Electronic payment by Airtel Money makes it possible to reduce poverty, to modernize the means of payment, to facilitate financial inclusion and also the integration of populations through it. ” Djibril Tobe, Managing Director of Airtel Chad says.
Also, “this innovation will prevent the transport of resources from one locality to another. This is something very important that will save our recipes and the lives of our agents. ” adds the Minister of Finance and Budget, Mr. Tahir Hamit Ngulin.
Five steps are necessary to be able to use this service implemented by Airtel.
The first step: go to the Customs office concerned and establish your declaration.
Second step: recover the liquidation slip after verification of the goods by the Customs office, showing the amount of duties and taxes to be paid.
Third step: go to the Airtel Money counter for payment and receive the notification message with all the payment information.
Then go to the head of the customs office with the notification message for printing the Airtel Money payment receipt.
And finally, recover the voucher to be removed after verification.
Namely, this service will be usable in thirteen Customs offices in Chad, including the offices of Zouar, Kalait, Faya, Léré, Mbainamar … This will not change customs procedures.
