The Modernization of Infrastructures and Electronic Communications Project will be officially launched on Tuesday, July 07, 2020 in N’Djamena. The ceremony is organized by the Ministry of Posts, New Information and Communication Technologies and the Ministry of Economy and Development Planning.

The modernization of electronic communications and infrastructure is a major project to allow the mass participation of the population in the ICT sector (Information and Communication Technologies) for the socio-economic development of Chad.

The project is in fact divided into 3 components and will aim, among other things, to implement 200 GSM relay antennas throughout the national territory; deploy a fibre-optic network over nearly 2,000 km; build a large centre for data security. The culmination of this project is “ICT for the development of Chad”.

Thus, for its realization, the project will start with the construction of a National Data Center. Planned over an area of 2000 m2 for a 4-storey building in the capital, this centre is necessary for the processing and storage of digital data. It is a physical place containing servers.

It is then planned to build a fibre-optic network within the country over a distance of 1,200 km and 50 km for the GPON access network. The network will be deployed along the Doba-Koumra-Sarh-Kyabé-Amtiman-Abéché-Amzoer-Guéréda-Iriba axis. As for the city of N’Djaména, it will benefit from 50 km of network making it possible to connect 1,000 large customers

It is important to keep in mind the modernization of the Sotel Tchad Group’s network. It’s by building 200 BTS 2G / 3G / 4G sites, a core network, and expanding subscriber numbers from 300,000 to 1,000,000 subscribers
