CEMAC in search of 2400 billion FCFA for sub regional integration

The countries of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) and the African Development Bank (Bad) are organizing an investor round table next December in Belgium. Its objective is to mobilize 2400 billion CFA francs for the implementation of eleven integrative projects.

The CEMAC countries and the African Development Bank will meet in December 2020 in Brussels, the Belgian capital and seat of the European Union. They will attempt to raise funds for the implementation of development projects resulting from the Economic and Financial Reform Program of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (Pref-Cemac), set up in July 2016.

From twelve projects initially for an investment estimated at 2820 billion FCFA, the Steering Committee (Copil) of Pref-Cemac has revised its ambitions downwards, thus reducing the number of these projects to eleven last July. In fact, two projects were twinned: the Brazzaville-Ouesso-Bangui-Ndjamena corridor project to link the Congo, the Central African Republic and Chad as well as the Mbaikoro-Benja-Bekoninga road to the Central African border which has become a single component.

For Copil Pref-Cemac, failing to mobilize all the funds representing 85% of the overall cost of the project estimated at 2714 billion, the capture of a good part of the funds intended for the realization of the projects would be a godsend. The technical organizing committee of this round table is made up of experts from the Bad, whose credibility of the signature has guided the Cemac Commission to make it the leader of this operation.

This also includes experts from the World Bank (WB), the Bank of Central African States (BEAC), the Development Bank of Central African States (BDEAC), the Commission of Cemac and Pref-Cemac.
