CAR renews restrictive measures to tackle coronavirus

After observing the development of the epidemic of the new coronavirus in the Central African Republic (CAR), the government renewed the preventive measures decided on in March.

According to an order from the Central African government, it is again closed for a period of fifteen days at Bangui M’Poko International Airport. Public gathering of more than fifteen people remains prohibited for the same period, inter and intra urban travel suspended.

Observation of the restrictive  measures in the first two weeks has been mixed, we learnt , to the point of pushing the government to deploy internal security forces to the streets to monitor compliance.

Since the announcement of the first case on March 14, CAR has currently had eleven positive cases, including three recoveries and no deaths, according to the country’s health authorities.

The government has begun preparing a response plan worth  about 113 billion FCFA to tackle the health threat.
